Drawing Guide

How to Draw Bubble Letter E

Capital E is a vertical spine with three horizontal bars reaching right. The whole art of the letter is bar proportion: full-length top and bottom bars, with the middle bar deliberately shorter.

01

Raise the spine

Draw a tall vertical line. This spine sets the letter's height and attitude — keep it straight and confident, since every bar hangs off it.

02

Cap the top and bottom

Add two horizontal bars reaching right from the top and bottom of the spine, both the same generous length. These matching bars are what make an E look balanced.

03

Float the middle bar

Add the third bar at the vertical midpoint, but cut it clearly shorter than the other two — about two-thirds their length. This shorter middle bar is the signature of a well-drawn E.

04

Puff the skeleton

Trace the whole skeleton with a thick bubble outline. Round the outer corners where bars meet the spine, and keep the white gaps between the bars open and even.

05

Erase and proofread

Remove the pencil lines, then read the letter at arm's length. If the middle bar looks as long as the others, shorten it — that single adjustment fixes most awkward E's.

Common mistake

The three equal bars

Beginners draw all three bars the same length, which makes the E look like a comb or a trident. The middle bar must be visibly shorter — it is the detail that separates a real E from a rake.

E and F share the same spine and top bars — F is simply E with the bottom bar removed. Draw them side by side from the bubble letter F page and the family resemblance is unmistakable. Bubble letter F guide →

Lowercase

Lowercase Bubble Letter e

Lowercase e is a small loop with an eye — one continuous stroke that curls around and crosses itself. It is quick to write and tricky to inflate without closing the eye.

01

Loop the stroke

Draw a small horizontal eye in the middle, then sweep the stroke around and up in a loop, like a tiny roller-coaster hill with a crossbar through it.

02

Keep the eye open

The little enclosed eye is the heart of the e — when adding the bubble outline, protect it. A closed eye turns your e into a blob.

03

Round the loop

Thicken the outer loop evenly, keeping the whole letter small — lowercase e lives at x-height, well below its capital sibling.

E rates its own cultural cameos: the ESRB stamps 'E for Everyone' on family video games, and Einstein's E=mc² made the letter the face of energy itself in physics.

FAQ

Bubble Letter E FAQs

What is the hardest part of drawing bubble letter E?+

Proportioning the three bars. The top and bottom bars match, but the middle bar must be clearly shorter — about two-thirds length. Equal bars make the letter read as a comb instead of an E.

How do I draw a lowercase bubble e?+

Draw one continuous stroke: a small eye in the middle with a loop sweeping around it. Keep the eye open when you add the bubble outline — closing it turns the e into an unreadable blob.

How common is the letter E in English?+

Extremely — about 12% of all written English, making it the most common letter by a wide margin. Roughly one in every eight letters you read is an E, which is why Morse code gave it the shortest possible signal: a single dot.

How do I copy bubble letter E?+

It does. The generator, PNG downloads, and coloring pages all run in mobile browsers on iPhone and Android, and copying uses your phone's standard clipboard — long-press, copy, done.
